ශ්‍රී ලංකා අක්ෂි වෛද්‍යවරැන්ගේ මගින් සංවිධානය කරන Gift of vision Sri Lanka වැඩසටහන යටතේ මෙම වසර තුල පවත්වනු ලබන පළමු වැඩසටහන ලෙස බදුල්ල ශික්ෂණ රෝහලේ රෝගීන් 500 ක් සදහා  ඇසේ සුද ඉවත් කර කාච යෙදීමේ වැඩසටහනක් 2026-01-31 දින දින ආරම්භ විය.

Helpage ආයතනයේ හා අනූපම් කැන්ඩන්මාල්ස් මහතාගේ පූර්ණ අනුග්‍රහය යටතේ මේ සදහා යොදාගනු ලබන කාච 500 නොමිලේ පරිත්‍යාග වශයෙන් ලැබුන අතර මෙම වැඩසටහන ඇසේ සුද ඉවත් කර කාච දමාගැනීම සදහා රජයේ රෝහල් වල විශාල රෝගීන් පිරිසක් පොරොත්තු ලේඛන වල රැදී සීටීම හේතුවෙන් ඒම පිරිස ඉලක්ක කර බදුල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේ මෙම වැඩසටහන ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට කටයුතු සංවිධානය විය.

මෙහිදී රෝගීන් 300 දෙනෙකුගේ සැත්කම් අද දිනයේදීත් රෝගීන් 200 කගේ සැත්කම් හෙට දිනයේදීත් සිදුකරීමට සියලු කටයුතු සංවිධානය කර ඇති අතර දින මේවන විට රොගීන් 280ක පිරිසකගේ සැත්කම් සිදුකර රෝහලින් මුදා හැර ඇත. මෙම සැත්කම් සදහා ශල්‍යාගාර A හා අක්ෂි ශල්‍යාගාරය ක්‍රිියාත්මක වන අතර ජනවාරි 31 හා පෙබරවාරි 01 දින උදෑසන 4 සිට රාත්‍රී  8 දක්වා මෙම ශල්‍යාගාර වල ශල්‍යකර්ම සිදුකෙරුණි.

මෙම වැඩසටහනේ සමාරම්භක උත්සවය බදුල්ල ශික්ෂණ රෝහලේ නව ශ්‍රවණාගාරයේදී 2026 ජනවාරි 31 දින උදෑසන 8.30ට පමණ ආරම්භ වු අතර ඒ් සදහා

• සෞඛ්‍ය හා ජනමාධ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශ ලේකම් වෛද්‍ය අනිල් ජාසිංහ මැතිතුමා ප්‍රධාන ආරාධිතයා වශයෙන් සහභාගී වු අතර
• ශ්‍රී ලංකා අක්ෂි වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යාලයේ හිටපු සභාපති විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය කුසුම් රත්නායක මහතා
• ශ්‍රී ලංකා අක්ෂි වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යාලයේ වත්මන් සභාපති විශේෂඥවෛද්‍ය කේ.ආර් දයාවංශමහතා
• බදුල්ල ශික්ෂණ රෝහල් අධ්‍යක්ෂ විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය හිමාලි විජේගුණසේකර මහත්මිය
• විශේෂඥ අක්ෂි ශල්‍ය වෛද්‍ය හා කැළණිව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ වෛද්‍ය පීඨයේ ජේෂ්‍ඨ කථිකාචාර්ය  විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය සැල්විින් කරහිනආරච්චි

Opening of New Four-Storey Academic Facility for Uva Wellassa University Medical Students

Date: 26 January 2026

A newly constructed four-storey academic building dedicated to Uva Wellassa University medical students was officially opened on 26th January 2026, marking a significant milestone in strengthening medical education and clinical training facilities.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the Hospital Director, along with consultant physicians, specialists, and medical officers. and Hospital Administration Officers. Their presence highlighted the strong partnership between the university and the hospital in advancing undergraduate medical education.

Building Facilities

The purpose-built facility has been designed to support academic, clinical, and student welfare needs, with dedicated spaces on each floor:

• 1st Floor – On-Call Rooms
  Comfortable and well-equipped on-call rooms have been provided to support medical students during clinical attachments and hospital duties.

• 2nd Floor – Tutorial Rooms
  Modern tutorial rooms facilitate small-group discussions, academic teaching sessions, and interactive learning activities.

• 3rd Floor – Auditorium
  A fully equipped auditorium is available for lectures, seminars, academic programs, and professional development activities.

• 4th Floor – Library
  A dedicated library space offers a quiet academic environment with access to learning resources, supporting self-study and research.

Strengthening Medical Education

This new academic building significantly enhances the learning environment for medical students while reinforcing the hospital’s role as a key teaching institution. It reflects a continued commitment to improving infrastructure, academic standards, and student welfare in medical education.

The hospital administration extends its sincere appreciation to the university authorities, academic staff, consultants, and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion and inauguration of this facility.

The Teaching Hospital, Badulla, successfully organized a comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Response Drill on 28th October 2024, aimed at strengthening emergency readiness and inter-agency coordination in the event of large-scale disasters.

This critical simulation exercise was conducted in collaboration with multiple key stakeholders including the Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Fire Brigade, and other relevant government and non-governmental agencies. The initiative emphasized a multi-sectoral approach to emergency response, highlighting the importance of seamless coordination among medical services, security forces, disaster management authorities, and support services.

The event included:

– Live simulation of emergency scenarios (mass casualties, fire outbreaks, and evacuation drills)
– Rapid deployment of emergency response teams
– Triage demonstrations and trauma care practices
– Communication and coordination exercises between sectors
– Safety protocol demonstrations for hospital staff and the public

Establishment of the Ten Story Professorial Unit of the faculty of Medicine, Uva Wellassa University, at the Teaching Hospital, Badulla on 26th November 2023.

ඌනව වෙල්ලස්ස විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ වෛද්‍ය පීඨයේ මහාචාර්්‍ය ඒකකය සදහා වු දස මහල් ගොඩනැගිල්ල ඉදි කිරීමේ කටයතු ආරම්භ කිරීම හා බදුල්ල පළාත් මහ රෝල ශික්ෂණ රෝහලක් බවට උත්ශ්‍රේණි ගත කිරීම ප්‍රකාශයට පත්කිරීම සනිටුහන් කිරීම 2023 නොවැම්බර් මස 26 වන දින සුභ මොහොතින් මැති ඇමතිතුමන්ලාගේ හා රාජ්‍ය නිළධාරීන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් රෝහල් පරිශ්‍රෙය්දී සිදු කරන ලදි.

International Nurses Day 2023 Existed Concurrently National Nurses’s Quiz Competition for on 17th May 2023 at Mahinda Rajapaksha Auditorium, Polgolla, Kandy.

We are very happy to inform that the Badulla Teaching Hospital nursing team won the islandwide championship and our hospital itself won the third place too.
