MRI Scan Started
The MRI scan facility is currently in functioning and , 1012 scans performed in year 2021. This is a great service to the patients in Uva province. The transfer of patients to Colombo and Kandy hospitals for these scans has been stopped completely and all the inconveniences to the patients have been avoided.
Covid Vaccine Clinic
Provincial General Hospital was Conducted Covid Shield Vaccination clinic for Hospital Staff, and Community. This programme was started on 31st January 2021 in NTS Premises and presently continued this service at vaccination clinic.
New PCR laboratory opening
New PCR laboratory opening on 11th May 2020 in Provincial General Hospital, Badulla to test samples from COVID suspected patients in Uva province, CCP Uva Province, Vice Chancellor in University of Uva Wellassa and Hospital Director with Consultants and Hospital Staff attend this special Event.
National Injury Surveillance System
It is our pleasure to say we could won this award 2019 for injury surveillance. We wish to mention, we started this programme 2019 and then our admission was 115000 to 120000. This task start with the help of our staff & fullest cooperation of the director of our hospital.

UNFA American Representative Visit
UNFA American Representative Ms. Ritsu Naken and South Africa High Commissioner of UNFA Mrs Robina Marks visit to Mithuru Piyasa in Provincial General Hospital, Badulla. And Dr Upul Karunarathna, Director, PGHB, Dr.(Mrs) Dinusha Perera, Acting Community Physician FHB and Dr Manoj Fernando, Senior Lecturer, University of Rajarata, Dr Kamal Walgama, Consultant Psychiatrist , PGHB was participated in this event.
Disaster Drill
A disaster management rehearsal organized by the Disaster Management Unit of the Badulla General Hospital was held on 27th November 2018. Badulla District Secretariat Emergency Management Unit Badulla District Secretariat Badulla Municipal Council assisted with several state institutions including Sri Lanka Police, Army and Air Force and discussed the manner in which the other institution including the general hospital was in a situation of disaster.
A&E and Stoke Building
The ultimate aim of making the quality benefit of the free health service for Sri Lankan patients , Construction of a 10-storey Accident and Emergency Care Unit with Cardiology Unit and as well as a ten-storied Kidney and Stroke Treatment Unit on the funds from Sri Lankan government. Participation of Hon. Minister of Transport, Nimal Siripa De Silva and Hon Minister of Digital Infrastructures Harin Fernando & Hon Deputy Minister of Health Fizal Kasim The construction work of the foundation stone was commenced on October 13, 2018 under the Initiative of Hon Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne. The construction work will commence in 2020.
Iodine Treatment Unit
The Director General of Health Services launched a new iodine support unit on 2018 July 14 at 11.30am. A large number of cancer patients in the Uva Province are to be rendered services
