History of the NTS
College of Nursing Badulla was established in the year 1982. On 12.11.1984, the studies of the first batch was started and the first principal was Mrs. Amara Gunasena.
Our Mission
To work collaboratively with the curative and preventive sections in the health field so that to train unique, locally and internationally recognized nursing and midwifery professionals in compliance with the scientific principles of education norms and socio – economic conditions which are relevant to the production of unique nursing are midwifery professionals for health promotion ,caring ,restoration of health, alleviation of suffering and rehabilitation ,determined to the wellbeing of individuals and community
A Word about us
College of Nursing Badulla is the only nursing training school in Uva province under the education, training and research unit of the Ministry of Health of the Government of Sri Lanka, which trains nurses and Public Health midwives required for patient care services for government hospitals and other health institutions controlled by the Ministry of Health of the Government of Sri Lanka.
5397 nurses who have been trained in Badulla Nursing School up to now and left for local and foreign health services, 1490 Public Health Midwives and 543 midwifery trained nurses also have completed their training. And, 43 Tamil female students have received Public Health Midwifery training for the estate sector.
At present (2025.02.10) there are 02 batches.
2020 batch – 200 students
2021 batch – 172 student.

- 01 Hostel with 80 rooms for female students. (Can accommodate 150 students)

Future Plan
- Construction of a new building with Six storey with student nurses hostel and tutor quarters.
