Opening of New Four-Storey Academic Facility for Uva Wellassa University Medical Students

A newly constructed four-storey academic building dedicated to Uva Wellassa University medical students was officially opened on 26th January 2026, marking a significant milestone in strengthening medical education and clinical training facilities.
The opening ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the Hospital Director, along with consultant physicians, specialists, and medical officers. and Hospital Administration Officers. Their presence highlighted the strong partnership between the university and the hospital in advancing undergraduate medical education.
Building Facilities
The purpose-built facility has been designed to support academic, clinical, and student welfare needs, with dedicated spaces on each floor:

1st Floor – On-Call Rooms
Comfortable and well-equipped on-call rooms have been provided to support medical students during clinical attachments and hospital duties. -
2nd Floor – Tutorial Rooms
Modern tutorial rooms facilitate small-group discussions, academic teaching sessions, and interactive learning activities. -
3rd Floor – Auditorium
A fully equipped auditorium is available for lectures, seminars, academic programs, and professional development activities. -
4th Floor – Library
A dedicated library space offers a quiet academic environment with access to learning resources, supporting self-study and research.
