Disaster Preparedness & Response Drill

The Teaching Hospital, Badulla, successfully organized a comprehensive Disaster Preparedness and Response Drill on 28th October 2024, aimed at strengthening emergency readiness and inter-agency coordination in the event of large-scale disasters.

This critical simulation exercise was conducted in collaboration with multiple key stakeholders including the Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Fire Brigade, and other relevant government and non-governmental agencies. The initiative emphasized a multi-sectoral approach to emergency response, highlighting the importance of seamless coordination among medical services, security forces, disaster management authorities, and support services.

The event included:

– Live simulation of emergency scenarios (mass casualties, fire outbreaks, and evacuation drills)
– Rapid deployment of emergency response teams
– Triage demonstrations and trauma care practices
– Communication and coordination exercises between sectors
– Safety protocol demonstrations for hospital staff and the public
